Roseberry and Chamerland have settled in nicely at Lake Winnimuska, Starbuck MN, site of last weekend’s Western Challenge. After a week of non-stop scratch racing, and the regatta on the weekend, they have the lake pretty much to themselves. They found a great deal on rooms; cheaper than living at home, according to Paul. They also have time now to do a little touring, and came across The Lakeside Inn. Waterfront dining is always the holy grail of the cruising iceboater.
Paul looks pretty happy here. What’s not to love?
Not a bad place to wile away the week, waiting for wind to either pick up or diminish. It’s all over the place according to the forecast. Tomorrow’s hi temp is sub zero with wind. A nice fire, kitchen and bar, reading materials: let it blow.
This is the site for the Western Regional DN Champs, as well as the ISA this coming weekend. You still have time: final call is tomorrow. Should you decide to go and then the regatta is called off, you can still go because once you get there, out on the lake, lapping the course in tight formation like a couple of frozen flying Dutchmen will be two DN’s. They will be cold, tired and happy to see you. Ready on the right? Ready on the left?
