The rain Saturday will likely finish off the last of the snow, and freeze up just beautiful overnight. Big winds for Sunday, so come prepared.

If it’s a bust, then breakfast at The Lazy Moose Cafe in Greenville can’t be beat. The home-made corned beef hash with a dash of hot sauce is heavenly.

Here’s the line up from last year at this time. Every skipper in that group will tell you that it’s worth the gamble. Kelly’s Bar in the background for apre’ sail.

We’re planning on getting to the ice around 8:00. It would be a great curtesy to this site to check in if you plan to come.

As of 3/29 9am there are large areas of grey that have gone past the point of return. Slush crust over slush over punky junk. Pushaw is pooched!

Bob Lombardo kick sledded the lake today and sent this photo:

He says:
" I was riding on slush ice on top of slush. Some slush pits were a good 6" deep. Mostly it was ice over 1-2" of slush.”

The surface is lovely, and the present forecast tells of cold and windy on Thursday. Is the cold they promise cold enough? Looks possible. A spray of snow is in there as well, just for good measure.

There was a quiet fellow milling about the pits, taking pictures. Not unusual, but then he ambled out to the starting line where he offered to start us. He did a fine job, and then there he was again near the bottom of the course, photographing again.
