Ice report, midcoast Maine 1/5

Chickawaukee Lake, North Pond, South Pond, Pemaquid Pond all open Tuesday afternoon. Suspect Damariscotta lake still open. Chickawaukee was trying to freeze with skim ice forming and drifting away in gentle breeze at breakfast time.

Mace’s Pond in Rockport good skating, old rim of snow iced 5 inches, new black ice 2 1/2 inches. Rocky Pond and Tolman ponds look similar on drive by with older snow ice and newer black ice with slightly wavy surface, driveby evidence of 1 1/2 inches or more and cracking from freezing pressure.

Where do we sail tomorrow, Wednesday, Sabattus, Pushaw, Unity?

  1. Jim Gagnon says:

Hi Lloyd, Clary lake is iced over, snow ice on the edges walked along at sunset about 20′ off shore center is black ice thickness unknown. Damariscotta is open at the pit and 3/4″ at the boat ramp on the southwest end. Some of the Belgrade lakes are skimed over. Available to sail Thursday. Jim
