Dan West

Classic DN sailor Dan West died recently. He was a good sailing buddy of Wolfie’s, constantly upgrading his old boat just to keep his pal honest, in the great tradition of all iceboaters. He sailed often on North Pond, Warren, with the Friendship fleet, and always showed up for the big days on Damariscotta. Dan was an sculptor of amazing talent. His wildlife bronze castings are represented by the Caldbeck Gallery in Rockland. And he made an annual pilgrimage to upper Bay of Fundy to harvest driftwood for his work. From his camp on the beach he’d wander for days looking for pieces that spoke to him. A man truly at peace with the world.

Hi Lori, Bill Buchholz here. Just wanted to check in about the breakfasts. There seems to be far fewer people coming than last time, but you can probably get the actual number of bookings from Sandy. I’d hate for you to buy too much food!
I’m sending this from the iceboat site comments, so I’m not sure it will actually find you, so please let me know if you get it.
      Thanks, Bill
