Have a look, and know that the wings are probably cheaper now than they ever will be. If yo have been thinking about getting one, do it soon, as prices are apt to go up soon.

Frank Able’s new boat continues to take shape at Apache Boatworks. Touch & Go’s mast, boom and springboard have been trimmed down to Whizz size and the plank is next. Tom Nichols stopped by and is pretty sure that the mast and plank were built by Beomke. It’s an honor to work with these parts and to get them back on the ice, even with a few pounds left in the shop.
Steve Lamb gave us a good start with his Whizz hull #5, which now has Touch & Go’s steering gear and deck hardware as well. Henry Bosset is making a new Whizz sail, and the old sail will be cut down for a storm sail.
We plan to cut down Touch & Go to pocket skeeter size and then offer her as a bare hull to allow some lucky sailor to jump-start a building project. Any one interested? The stern and cockpit on this fuselage are just stunning and need to be on the ice.
Will Frank keep the cool pin striping?

John Bianchi is retiring from ice boating (he will winter in Fla!!!) and wants to sell his DN made by Saltonstall and John, Saltontall’s racing design. Two masts, one wood stripper, one fiberglass, both by Saltonstall and thoroughly sailed. Three sets of runners: plates, inserts, and slushies. John was quite competitive in days of yore with this boat. Call him at 207 650 3667.

Our buddy Frank Abel is embarking on an interesting project, so please come have a look Friday at four. All the parts of one old boat will be trimmed and blended to form a new boat from a semi-completed hull.
There’s all kinds of head scratching to do, not to mention celebrating the fact that the days are now getting shorter. We’re over the solstice hump!
Bring some libation to lubricate the inspirational gears. Doug Raymond might bring along his latest iceboat design, which he assures us is even more far-out than the one you saw posted here last week.
